AFNET is an interdisciplinary research network comprising scientists and physicians from hospitals and practices dedicated to improving the management of atrial fibrillation through coordinated research in Germany and Europe. AFNET is currently an independent association, and has received over 10 years of funding from the German Ministry of Education and Research. Its main objective is to conduct high quality investigator-initiated clinical trials and registries on a national and international level as an academic research organisation. Furthermore, AFNET has experience in patient communication and the conduct of “think tank” conferences such as the AFNET/EHRA consensus conference series.
The AFNET has conducted multiple international, randomised controlled trials and registries as a sponsor and will provide its regulatory expertise as well as its large network of clinical sites. In addition, AFNET will provide its expertise in dissemination of project results and public relation activities.
