Essen University Hospital annually provides state-of-the art medical care to over 200,000 in- and out-patients, and pursues the transfer of theoretical and practical knowledge and skills to nearly 2000 students. Scientific research – focused on the key areas of cardiovascular medicine, oncology and transplants, as well as genetic medicine, infectious diseases and immunology- is interdisciplinary and tightly interwoven with medical practice through clinical trials with innovative treatments.
