CRCHUS

The Université of Sherbrooke’s Strategic Research Plan aims to increase its research collaborations (1) to reach the critical mass needed to develop major projects, (2) to play a major role in the national system of innovation at the regional, national and international levels by ensuring an efficient flow of knowledge transfer from the laboratory to the user that provides a maximum of opportunities, and (3) to improve the training and the work-force readiness of our highly qualified and innovative students. The Canada Research Chair (CRC) on Molecular Imaging of Type 2 Diabetes led by André C. Carpentier fits within the priority “Diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular complications (DOCC)”, one of the 6 priority research areas indicated in the “Medical Sciences” section of U. de Sherbrooke’s plan for deployment of CRCs, as clearly set out in the document Strategic Research Plan for CRCs and CFI (2018). Pr. Carpentier’s CRC is at the crossroad between DOCC and Medical Imaging. The imaging and DOCC facilities (7,000 m2; 31,7M$), built in 2013 at the CRCHUS, speaks by itself. The leadership and vision of Pr. Carpentier were key for their major infrastructure grants (CFI, PSRV2). Two of the three floors of this building are dedicated to the DOCC and Medical Imaging theme.
